Learning to Read the Cards
Reading Tarot is storytelling. The cards are dots; your job is drawing the line of the story between them.
Before every reading, take a deep breath, hold the question clearly in your mind, and shuffle with intent. The calm of the beginning shapes the quality of the entire reading.
Turn the cards over one by one — see the image first, then the keyword, then how it relates to its position in the spread. Then look at the whole: which suit dominates? Are there more Majors or Minors? Are the cards facing each other or turning away?
The final step is narration: write a short paragraph, or speak aloud, that gathers the whole reading into one coherent story. If another person can hear that story and understand it, you have done a good reading.
Most importantly: be honest. Tarot rewards honesty. Do not soften the hard cards, do not exaggerate the beautiful ones. Speak truly, speak kindly, and pass the message on in full.
