Major Arcana
The Devil — Tarot Card Meaning
Core meaning
The chains you feel are lighter than they seem. The Devil is here to reveal what has been holding you back, so you can lovingly release it. Awareness is your freedom. Step into your true power; the door is already open.
In the past position
You were bound to something — a habit, a person, a fear — that once felt like safety but slowly became a cage.
In the present position
You are becoming aware of the chain and noticing that it was never locked. Honesty about what holds you is your first key.
In the future position
You will step into a freedom you almost stopped believing in. What controlled you will lose its power, and joy will return.
